Bruce Lee would not stand a chance and that doesn't even reflect badly on him because the comparison is ridiculous!!!Lee would have been a featherweight/lightweight so it is a bit like saying do you think Barrera can have Holyfield! Some people are stupid but this debate is popular for some reason so I'll give my two cents on it.
I'll start with what Lee thought about boxing for all them haters out there! In the Tao of Jeet Kune Do Lee refers to it as a martial arts in the introduction. He says 'all martial arts including western boxing and fencing' and he obviously holds it in high regard as he emulated many of the training methods in boxing. he was sick and tired of these pot bellied 'masters' who couldnt do a full 3 minute round. Lee also acknowledged he couldn't beta them all up and his boasts were actually for the mantle of 'pound for pound' best fighter and not as some Lee fans think, an invicible man. Chuck Norris would have laughed at such a notion!That's right it was a movie, he didn't really beat him up but did well in sparring for a small guy.
I was a Lee fan as a kid and that's really what led me to boxing eventually. I always loved watching it as they were fighting! If i was still doing martial arts(or if I go back to Thaiboxing one day) I can only see myself being a better fighter if I kept boxing. Most MMA fighters incorporate boxing into their repertoire so I don't know what all the hating and kicks V punching nonsense is about. Alot of Thaiboxers prefer using only boxing and knees and many kung fu masters also only use their hands. Aikido is an effective art where hands are only used, so the hands v feet argument can go right out the window!
I think any fighter who honestly thinks that boxing is an ineffective style of fighting, is probably inexperienced and not very good at fighting themselves. A real fighter would always be wary of a boxers speed power and reflexes.
Here is some highlights of the baddest man on the planet. Most pundits would not consider him in the same league as Ali which says it all. Even if you don't rate him at all, you know really how much of a bad boy he is compared to Kill Bill& other ficticious film characters like Lee.
Watching this you cannot fathom the prospect of a wide open Kung Fu dervish surviving 4-5 shot combos of Tysons bombs. The only hope is a grappler (which Lee was NOT!) but even they have the problem of getting past the FAST punches. They CAN't walk through them.
Seriously people don't be silly, you know Tyson would have beaten Bruce Lee, Van Damme, Jackie Chan and Jet Li up all in one day. After all they are just great ACTORS whereas Tyson was a great FIGHTER. At least debate about Gracie or someone proven, not an actor!
Ali was a legend. Don't be silly people we saw him beat the US government and we know that he was the GREATEST fighter of all time. Even Achilles with his sword wouldn't have stood a chance!ALI BUMAYE!!!!! [More] [Less]
